Welcome to the Yellowfarm. Let me introduce myself, I am Virginia Scholomiti. My husban Tom and I breed a flock of registered Wensleydale and Teeswater long wool sheep. These are the finest luster long wool's in the world and we adore both breeds. We have been working through a breed up program these breeds for over 15 years, and have a flock of high percentage breeding stock. Our stock have won many prizes at Maryland Sheep and Wool, as well as New York State Sheep and Wool, including Best Fleece, best White Longwool and Supreme Champion Longwool. Our farm in outside of Albany, NY and is home to all our pampered stock. We breed to match the breed standard of these UK breeds with an emphasis on the amazing and unique fiber they produce.
If you are a spinner or other fiber arts addict, these locks with their characteristic luster and individual lock structure, silky handle, ability to grow long open curls, is sure to inspire many ideas for beautiful projects. Whether you are an Textured Art Yarn lover, or a more traditional fiber enthusiast you will find this amazing fiber to be an instant favorite.
I have joined forces with fiber artist Pam Blasko to create " Shepherds Talk " a website that offers video tutorials on lots of topics, from spinning, felting, prepping fiber, ideas and patterns. We have endless fun creating new techniques, visiting old tried and true methods, and are always searching for new inspiration and ideas.
Feel free to contact me as I love to 'talk sheep' and serve on both the North American Wensleydale Sheep Association Board, and the American Teeswater Sheep Association Board.
